(HOTA) at Sankore

Holy Trinity Academy (HOTA) at Sankore in Goaso diocese also established September 2018, with crèche and hope to continue gradually with the formation and training of the children in that area as well. We have a convent attach to the school and the sisters engage in subsistent farming to support the school feeding and themselves as well. The sisters also help in the parish work.

These are various ways to help provide quality education to children, especially the needy ones in rural areas and to enhance the future and quality of life of these people in accordance with our charism.

Apart from formal education, we engage in other apostolate which are also of greater help to the needy in our catchment areas.

In the year 2001/2002, we started applying to the Lilian foundation for the needy in society. Under this programme, the sister in charge has to identify a case of a person with disability, process the person to know where exactly he/she needs to be helped and then apply to the Lilian foundation for funds to help those identified. Sometimes it comes out through the process that the person need medical care, founding to continue education or to start a trade. The sister monitors the person to ensure proper management of the founds given, so as to give account for the founds at the end of the years report to the Lilian foundation.

In 2006, the congregation started another initiative to assist the poor, and the poor here includes persons with disabilities without support and people who lack basic necessities of life. The project sees to work with the institutes charism of helping the poor especially in the area of education, health, social and livelihood domains. FSTEP is registered as an NGO and it focus on disability and needy children. It is a strategic partner to SWEB foundation, ie (Samuel Willington Botweh foundation) in Accra also an NGO, to implement Community Based Rehabilitation in Ashanti Region. The programme includes the following:

  1. Social services for all types of disable children. Under social services are;

a. Identify and register the clients. 

b. Intervention planning

c.  Referral and follow ups

2.         Support for Education

3.         Support for Treatment and Health care

4.         Support for livelihood interventions, learning a trade such as, hair dressing, sawing.

5.         Collaboration with disabled peoples’ organizations for their involvement

6.         Parent support Group; – meet with the parents to discuss what they can do to support themselves and their disabled children.

7.         Home base Care; this is home visit to follow up on the parents. To assist the parents and persons with disabilities or the clients to see how they are doing.
